Becoming a Key Influencer with Social Media Geared for those who want to learn more, this workshop presents an exciting and engaging introduction to the wide world of social media. In this workshop we will examine the role of social media in our society and the ways in which students are using it in their daily lives. Attendees will get started on Twitter, Blogging, and Pinterest. We then progress to a hands-on session where attendees learn to apply social media tools in the educational environment.

Modeling Metacognition: Supporting Learner Self-Regulation Using Evidence-Based Design This session uses a mix of evidence-based design thinking, discussion, and hands-on activities to explore how teachers can support student metacognition by modeling self-regulated learning strategies and behaviors using online tools. Scaffolding, prompting, monitoring and providing learners opportunities to reflect as a natural part of lesson planning and delivery will be discussed. Participants will leave with practical ideas that they can implement into their lesson plans when they get back to their classrooms.

Solve SAGE with Smarter Solving
Solve SAGE with Smarter Solving Smarter Solving, developed by the Research-based non-profit company Reasoning Mind, was created by reverse engineering Next Gen assessments like SAGE. The program for grades 3 - 5 teaches all the math content from the Utah Core Standards through a problem solving curriculum and in the same way that students will be assessed. Participants will have an opportunity to explore the program and engage their students in a free trial.

There is more money available than for education than teachers have the time to write for! This session will focus on searching techniques and resources to find available grants, and then tips for successfully writing and applying for a grant.

You are using the Hour of Code, some "Maker" activities, a variety of computational thinking strategies, but you need some help on assessing what students are learning and then giving it a score. This session is right where you need to be!

I will share some ideas and strategies around assessing students work and engagement, as well as, tips and tricks to have students do some reflection themselves.
